May Travel Notes

Olympic NP (Day 1): US-101 around the peninsula is fully open year-round. The Hurricane Ridge road sometimes runs on a winter weekend-only schedule into mid/late May — check NPS road status the morning of.

Mt. Rainier (Day 2): Nisqually entrance, road to Longmire, and (daytime) road to Paradise are open. Sunrise / White River, Stevens Canyon Rd (east of Paradise), Mowich Lake, Carbon River, and Ohanapecosh are closed until late May / June.

Snow: Hurricane Ridge has lingering snow into May; short walks (Hurricane Hill) may be snowy. Paradise (5,400 ft) is still under several feet — Skyline / Panorama Point is a snow route, microspikes minimum.

Between nights: Amanda Park (Night 1) → Eatonville Airbnb (Night 2) is roughly 3.5 hr via US-101 south + I-5 + WA-7. Roll out early Day 2 morning to be at the Nisqually gate by mid-morning.
